Okay, so I am one of those people that is EXTREMELY nervous when buying expensive things. The computer, happily, turned out to be a fantastic deal for what I got. The computer, most importantly is quick, don’t worry, the first time you turn it on it may seem slow, but that is because it has a lot to set up, it only gets faster and faster.

It came pre-loaded with google chrome and internet explorer pinned to the bar. As well as Toshiba Book Place and Toshiba App place. Both are pretty cool tools. It also comes with Microsoft 2010 Trial Program; I already bought Microsoft 2010, so I just typed in the product key. The key board is pretty cool, the keys are now back lit, but the mouse pad has a pretty bright light, as well as the lights above the keyboard (system control panel). It is a Windows 7 computer, has intel CORE i5, is energy star approved (energy friendly and shuts down to sleep to conserve engery. very nice. It is very asthetically please, which its chrome/black like finish. It has a premium sound system, and it sounds surprisingly good. It also has a very nice resolution and video quality. There are 4 USB slots (one of which is USB 3.0 sleep and charge), I like that. OH and a side note whenever you move the computer, a notification (which can be turned off) pops up saying that the hardrive has been moved to “safeplace” while it is being moved around too much.

Cool feature, in case you are being to rough with it to prevent damage to the hardrive. There is also a security lock slot, a DC-IN, Optical disc drive, Microphone/Line-In jack, Headphone jack, Cooling Vents, RGB Port, Network Port, and HDMI Out Port. I really like that there is a seperate number pad off to the side, that happily, does not take away from the good size of the keyboard. It comes with a 1 year standard warranty by toshiba and a $10 dollar eMusic card (around 20 songs). I am really glad I got this computer, very nice, fast, easy to set up and understand. For the price you can’t go wrong ! Now for a little details: The AMD Quad-Core A6-3400M Accelerated Processor with AMD Radeon HD 6520G Graphics at 2.3 GHz, 4MB Cache , basically the speed and efficiency of this processor ranks somewhere in between an INTEL core i3 and INTEL core i5-2510M closer to i5 than i3 . Running your basic word processing, web browsing (with multiple tabs open) spread sheets etc, you will never tell the difference between AMD and INTEL , now INTEL sandy bridge core i processors are generally faster at cpu intensive applications like video trans-coding and 3D rendering (most people don’t do unassisted video trans-coding and 3d rendering if you do I suggest you go for an INTEL core i5 or i7 processor) where the AMD stands out is in its graphics performance it wont run the latest games at high settings but it does a good job (the quad core and better integrated graphics helps) look at Ramanspec Jerry’s review for more detail on gaming performance .

Battery life is very good as advertised 5hrs . Build quality is good not the best I have seen and touched but sturdy and battery secured properly, I won’t comment on the aesthetics cause that’s based on user preference/taste . Simply put if you are looking for an inexpensive laptop with good battery life that can do what most users could throw at it with good performance and want to fire up a game now and then, for the price, this laptop can’t be beat .

It’s a short story how I landed on buying this laptop at a local retail store. I was looking for something below $1000 and a 15″ size and good performance and this was it. This was the first time I ever used a personal laptop or computer at home with AMD processor and I should say I loved it. First I was at the retail store and picked up another brand with I5 processor. It has more memory and more hard drive space than this laptop.

Took it home and playing some high performance pc games and some streaming apps and noticed that the I5 really was bad. The graphics was slow, the performance was bad. So I went back to the store and tried other similar I5 laptops with other manufacturers and same bad result. Finally I thought I’ll pick this one ( as it’s quad core) and ran the same games in the store (thanks to my mobile hotspot ..;-) ) and the performance was simply superior for almost the same $$$. I was really impressed even with 1/2 the memory of other laptops how it handled the same games and programs. Well, I was sold!!! I’ve been using this for couple months now. Great performance, no heat issues, fantastic display, nice looks.
I feel really sad now, as amazon now sells it for less than $600! I paid over $750 + tax for this! Although definitely worth that money. Less than $600 is fantastic price!

Only complain I have is that sometimes when I type my palm accidently hits the touchpad and puts the cursor elsewhere or puts in scrolling mode. I think , then I learnt to position my hands differently. The issue is because the touchpad is fairly large and its possible you’ll touch it accidently when your typing.
Overall great product. Kudos for AMD too!

o at $500, I think this Toshiba far exceeds the performance of some higher brand laptop computers. I was most worried about the battery life and while I do not know how long it will last, so far the battery is giving me about 6 hrs on eco setting and trust me, I have 8 Google Chrome tabs open, Outlook, notebook and Word and the computer is still faster than my old Dell Inspiron and my old Toshiba L45. On balanced level, I think I got about 3 hrs out of the laptop. In terms of the performance speed and capability, I am not saying that the performance is gaming level, but I think if this computer is for basic work or school,you will not be disappointed. In regards to shipping, the shipping on the computer was super fast and as advertised, I got it in the time period allotted.

**The Good**

1) Laptop is still exceeding my expectations on performance and speed. I have up to 16 browser tabs open at times in addition to Word and graphic files and the performance is still better than my old Dell Inspiron and Toshiba Satellite combined

**The Bad**

1) So this laptop is so sensitive in that in the middle of typing, it will resize your windows; one of the drawbacks of having a touchpad that is flush with the suface of the laptop…..
